JAMIE LYNN SPEARS

Biography: Jamie Lynn Marie Spears was born April 4, 1991, in McComb, Mississippi and grew up in the small town of Kentwood, Louisiana. Her father, Jamie, is a building contractor, mother, Lynne, a grade school teacher. She was born more than nine years after her sister, Britney. In addition to her famous older sister, she also has an older brother, Bryan (born 1977).

While still a baby, Spears moved to New York City with her mother and older sister in an effort to build Britney’s music career. When Britney hit big in the late ‘90s, Jamie-Lynn began expressing interest in following in her sister’s footsteps. Her first on-screen appearance came in the concert movie Total Britney Live (2001).

In 2002, she briefly appeared in the movie Crossroads, playing a young "Lucy," to Britney’s adult "Lucy." Jamie-Lynn also joined the Nickelodeon comedy-variety show All That, playing a variety of characters for two seasons.

In the summer of 2004, she left All That for her first starring role in the Emmy-nominated Zoey 101. She played Zoey Brooks, one of a group of girls attending a formerly all-boys boarding school in California. Spears also co-wrote and sang the show’s theme song.

Spears told OK! magazine she was 12 weeks pregnant, it was reported Dec. 18, 2007. She had met her boyfriend, the son of a Tennessee paper mill worker, at church.

"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," Spears said. She says she found out from an at-home test and then a doctor's visit, then didn't tell anyone for two weeks except for one friend. She said she revealed the news to her parents shortly before Thanksgiving.

Jamie-Lynn said that her mother, Lynne Spears, "was very upset because it wasn't what she expected at all. A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive."

"I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious,” said Lynne Spears. “She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."

At the time, Lynne Spears was reportedly writing a book about parenting. Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World was initially scheduled for release May 11, 2008, Mother's Day. But her publisher announced Dec. 19 that it’s delayed indefinitely.

The fourth and final season of Zoey 101 had already been filmed prior to Spears’ pregnancy and debuted January 27, 2008.

What message does she want to send to other teens about premarital sex?

“I definitely don't think it's something you should do,” Spears said. “It's better to wait. But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in.”

Jamie Lynn, who was a high school student in Kentwood (she passed her GED in February 2008), said she plans to raise the baby in Louisiana so it can have “a normal family life.''

"Jamie Lynn and her mom will be raising this baby together," one unnamed source told OK! "Jamie Lynn loves her mom dearly. She thinks Lynne has been a sensational mom, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about."

And additional sources claim Jamie Lynn would also have the support of her big sisters’ ex-husband Kevin Federline, who is still close to the Spears clan.

"Kevin has long thought of Jamie Lynn as his own little sister," an insider told OK!

Britney did fly out to Kentwood for Jamie Lynn’s baby shower on May 3, 2008, with 30 or so guests, according to People.com. Jamie Lynn’s mom and dad did all the cooking for the alcohol-free affair, which included fried chicken and chili, E! News reported. It was reportedly Britney’s first visit since her Aunt’s funeral in early 2007. She wore pink all weekend to signify the coming of her new baby niece into the world.

Sherriff deputies stood guard at the gate while paparazzi circled in helicopters above. Otherwise, it was “a normal shower…a wonderful, sweet occasion” a source from the party told People.

“It was wonderful to be able to spend time with her and just be girls again,” Jamie Lynn told OK! magazine. “We painted our nails and did stupid stuff.”

Britney also offered parenting advice.

“She told me: ‘There are going to be some long nights, but it is completely worth it,”’ Jamie Lynn said.

Then again, Britney, may not be the best source of parenting advice. The pop star lost primary custody of her two sons, aged 2 and 1, to Federline after a bitter custody battle revealed her maternal shortcomings.
